Stewartstown Lioness is proud to be a part of the world’s LARGEST service organization, Lions International!  Each Lioness year, beginning in July, we plan and carry out a number of fundraisers.  All money we make is given back to the community through a variety of projects.  Here is a sampling of what we do:  bake sales, sandwich raffles, cookie walk, sell RADA cutlery, sell ice cream at the Eureka Firemen’s carnival, and many others.  Most importantly, however, is our participation in a variety of service projects for and donations to our local and worldwide community.  Here is a snapshot of recent years’ activities: scholarships, Adopt-a-Highway, visits to Shrewsbury Lutheran Home, Lions Special Olympics, Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, meals for HOPE families, planted trees in the area, and more.

The Lioness year runs from July 1st through June 30th.  New members may enter the club at any point in the year.  The entrance fee is $4.00.  Dues are paid each quarter and amount to $6.00 and dinner costs of $30.00 totaling $36.00 a quarter.  In general, Lioness meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday.  Meeting places are scheduled at the beginning of the year (July), and vary from month to month.  We have met in the past at area churches, the Stewartstown American Legion, and the Bailey Springs clubhouse.  Following each regular meeting, a board of directors meeting is held to conduct business. All Lioness members are encouraged to attend the board meetings as well.

Each Lioness member chooses committees and activities to participate in.  Major committees are Ways and Means (fundraising), Projects (donating), Membership, Phone / Hospitality, Social, Lioness directory, and Election of Officers.  Becoming a Lioness gives members a chance to utilize their many skills and talents while helping others in the community. In the spirit of volunteerism, Stewartstown Lioness thrive on hard work and having a good time doing it!
